This will be the ninth session of the conference, and the third since the adoption of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. It will be the first hosted by the Government of Australia, and will take place in the city of Brisbane, the state capital of Queensland.
The regional Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction serves as the main regional platform for promoting coordination and cooperation on DRR and the implementation of the Sendai Framework. Held every two years, the conference brings together member states and intergovernmental organisations, along with international and national organisations and stakeholder groups, to accelerate progress in disaster risk reduction. The conference is instrumental in strengthening DRR in the region by sharing good practice and knowledge and forging partnerships.
