Save the date for the Regional Conference Understanding Risk (UR) West and Central Africa – “Human Capital and Innovation for a Resilient Society” from 20 to 22 November 2019 in Abidjan (Ivory Coast).The conference will alternate technical workshops, plenary sessions, feedback and exchange between participants on the crucial challenge of understanding the risks of natural disasters in West and Central Africa. Exhibitions and cultural events will also allow participants to view resilience from a different perspective. Topics will include the use of risk information for urban and financial resilience, digital technologies for a better understanding of flood and erosion risks, nature based solution for risk reduction, risk communication through art, or the participation of local communities and entrepreneurs for a resilient society, and many other exciting topics.

The day of Friday November 22 will be jointly organized with the “State of The Map Africa 2019” Conference, a flagship event in Africa that will bring together 300 innovators in mapping, and will offer the participants the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the heart of latest open and participatory mapping technologies and the OpenStreetMap community.
