Take part in the Earthbeat and UNDRR video challenge

Earthbeat has joined forces with UNDRR to launch a new global youth video challenge, addressing the theme of Risk to Resilience’. They want to amplify the voices of young people and share their initiatives and stories around reducing the risk from disasters, boosting resilience and demonstrating cooperation and coordination across communities, regions and national boundaries.

They are interested particularly in projects which are being led by and for youth, women and indigenous groups, and stories from the worst affected areas. The shortlisted films will be showcased on social media and during the Global Platform on Disaster Risk Reduction in Indonesia in May 2022. Films will be selected based on the decision of a judging panel and the viewing public and winners will receive a filming kit to improve their smartphone filmmaking.

Earthbeat will also be running free online filmmaking workshops to help young people improve their journalistic and storytelling skills.

The deadline for film entries is 18 February 2022.
