Global trends in scaling Nature-based Solutions for disaster risk reduction
 

Abstract

This study presents a bibliometric analysis of 1,359 publications (2015–2024) on Nature-based Solutions (NbS) for natural hazards, highlighting a dramatic growth in research output over the decade. Six key thematic clusters emerge, including flooding, coastal hazards, landslides, drought, urban hazards, and integrated approaches, with the UK and US leading contributions. Despite rapid growth, gaps remain in long-term effectiveness, equity, and governance, offering guidance for future research, policy, and practitioner efforts to scale NbS for disaster risk reduction.
