The importance of wetlands in disaster risk reduction has gained global attention. In recognizing this
important function of wetlands, the Convention on Wetlands adopted the Resolution XII:13 (Wetlands and
Disaster Risk Reduction) in 2016. Other global treaties such as the Convention on Biological Diversity, the
Paris Agreement, and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, have also recognized
the importance of managing healthy ecosystems, including wetlands, to reduce disaster risks. Nevertheless,
