Abstract

The ‘Wetlands and Disaster Risk Reduction: A Guide for Wetland Managers’ introduces the interconnectedness of natural hazards, disasters, and wetlands, emphasising the integration of disaster risk reduction (DRR) with wetland management through Ecosystem-based Disaster Risk Reduction (Eco-DRR). The Guide highlights key relevant concepts, provides guidelines for incorporating DRR in wetland management, and highlights the importance of a holistic approach. The Guide further emphasises the pivotal role of wetlands in mitigating natural hazard impacts aligning with global agreements such as the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030, Sustainable Development Goals, and the Paris Agreement.
