UN Environment and Practical Action have been working directly with communities in North Darfur to enhance disaster resilience.
UN Environment and Practical Action Sudan have been recognized for their work in restoring drylands in North Darfur, Sudan, to mitigate droughts and flooding and improving water resource management for both farmers and pastoralists living along the Wadi El Ku, one of the largest seasonal rivers. Funded by the European Union and implemented together with the State Government and local communities, the Eco-DRR North Darfur Project was awarded the 2017 Land for Life Award by the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
