IUCN releases EPIC report – Solutions from Nature



 
IUCN has released a new report called ‘Ecosystems protecting infrastructure and communities: lessons learned and guidelines for implementation’. This publication documents lessons from implementing the Ecosystems Protecting Infrastructure and Communities (EPIC) initiative, which promoted ecosystem-based approaches for disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation in six countries. New technical paper from the UNFCCC
A new technical paper from the UNFCCC explores opportunities and options for integrating climate adaptation with the Sustainable Development Goals and the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015–2030. It notes that both ”resilience” and ”ecosystems” can act as core concepts for motivating such integration. Read the report here.

New MOOC: Environmental Security and Sustaining Peace
Conflicts over natural resources and the environment are among the greatest challenges of the 21st century. Sustainable management of natural resources can serve as a vehicle for peace. Master's Programme on environmental risks and human security available
The United Nations University - Institute for Environment and Human Security and the University of Bonn have opened admissions for the 2018 intake of the Joint MSc Geography of Environmental Risks and Human Security. The Master’s Programme tackles environmental risks and natural hazards and their implications for human-nature relations.
