Fiji launches National Adaptation Plan during COP 24
|

During the UNFCCC CoP24 in Katowice, the Fijian Government launched its first National Adaption Plan (NAP) to build long-term resilience to climate change. Ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA). EbA contributes towards aligning the NAP with the Coastal Management Framework and National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan. Read more here.

Modelling nature-based solutions for alleviating flood risk
A new tool was developed by Ambiental to assess and model the positive impacts of nature-based solutions (NBS) to reduce flooding, which has been a challenge in the application of NBS. Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) promotes the sustainable use of biodiversity and ecosystem services to adapt to climate change, and has been defended as an effective and cost-efficient way of reducing climate change impacts. This paper reviews recent literature on EbA and identifies key areas that need more attention from scientists and policymakers to incorporate Ecosystem-based Adaptation into the international climate policy agenda.
