Newly Released Reports

UNECE, FAO report presents payment for ecosystem, watershed services schemes for forests 
The UN Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) released a study that emphasizes the multiple benefits of forest ecosystems, including erosion control and regulation of surface water flows. The study aims to improve understanding about how payment for ecosystem services (PES) schemes can be applied to managing forests ecosystems. Read the report here.
Water Resources Foundation releases report on incentivizing green infrastructure

The Water Resources Foundation (WRF) addresses a range of implementation barriers for green infrastructure in a new report. Due to insufficient coordination across city departments, changing priorities for public funds, or the lack of education among private sector developers, cities and counties are facing significant challenges to implement green infrastructure programs. Online Training

UNECE, FAO report presents payment for ecosystem, watershed services schemes for forests 


The course assists practitioners working on all SDGs to understand how gender issues are linked to their work, identify entry points for promoting gender equality, and the measurement criteria for integrating gender and the achievement of SDG targets. Gambia’s lawmakers get involved in promoting large-scale ecosystem-based solutions for climate resilience 

The National Assembly of Gambia, in particular the Select Committee on Environment, was involved in recent awareness raising event to promote large-scale ecosystem-based projects aimed at strengthening climate resilience of poor communities along the Lower River region. The initiative will restore mangroves in 17 communities, covering 530 hectares.  Read more here


U.S. city modernizes stormwater infrastructure 


St. Paul, Minnesota in the U.S. is rethinking its stormwater management by increasing use of green infrastructure such as rain gardens and green roofs, which can reduce urban heat stress and flood risk associated with urbanization and climate change impacts. Read the full article here
  

Project Insight

Spring Creek South: Storm resilience and ecosystem restoration project

Led and funded by the US Army Corps of Engineers, the Spring Creek South project in New York, U.S., aims to reduce flood risk to coastal storms in the area around Queens and improve the local ecology. Stabilization of salt marshes will be used as a nature-based resilience feature in this project. Read more here.
