Building Resilience in the San Francisco Bay Area
In response to climate change, the City of San Francisco in the United States is investing in Eco-DRR by restoring acres of natural creeks. This will increase city resilience to hazards such as drought and flooding. Conceptualizing the Bay area as a social ecosystem will allow for a combination of various grey techniques and green infrastructure. Watch the video to learn more.

Using Green Infrastructure to Combat Post-Fire Landscapes
To address the vulnerability of communities to wildfires in Southern California in the U.S, green infrastructure for storm water management is being used to alleviate floods, mudslides, and other problems that occur in post-fire landscapes. Additionally, vegetated stream buffers and constructed wetlands have been proven to reduce pollutants that can contaminate waterways and contribute to biodiversity. Read more here.

Cuba’s 100 Year Plan to Protect Itself from Climate Change
Prompted by the devastating hurricane season in 2017, Cuba has developed a plan to protect the country from the impacts of climate change over the next century. Project Life addresses people's vulnerabilities to disasters by relocating them away from areas which would be affected by rising sea levels, restoring degraded habitats, and shifting crop production away from salt-water contaminated areas. Strategies to Protect Coastal Communities against Increased Flooding
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection in the U.S. has released a report which provides strategies which coastal communities can implement to reduce the impacts of flooding linked to rising sea levels. This report was designed to evaluate the state’s current rules for designating development centers along the coast, and outlines suggestions, such as restoring marshes and wetlands, for improving its resilience to rising sea levels. New Publication on Ecosystem-based Adaptation
Publisehd by the Boticário Group Foundation for Nature Protection,  this report discusses the concept of ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) and practices that are currently being implemented around the world. It provides comparative, cost benefit analyses between EbA projects and the combination of green and grey infrastructures. This study seeks to influence the integration of EbA strategies in public policies of Brazil, and in particular inform the national climate change adaptation strategy. Read the full paper here.
