News
Indonesia and Netherlands launch
large coastal safety initiative in Java
Wetlands International coordinates a new five-year public-private partnership, as part of their "Building with Nature" programme. It aims at enhancing coastal safety on the North coast of Java. Plan is to build a 9 kms strip of permeable dams made of brush wood and 300,000 m2 of sediment nourishment to trap silt, regain lost land along the eroding coast and support rehabilitation of mangroves as natural buffers against coastal hazards.
