Project Insights
Integrating community-based adaptation into afforestation and reforestation programmes in Bangladesh
The National Adaptation Plan of Actions and Bangladesh Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan have identified coastal afforestation with local community participants as a key adaptation priority for coastal areas. Efforts will focus on expanding the quality and the coverage of the coastal afforestation programme, providing the community with climate-resilient livelihoods and an incentive to become protectors of the forest. Read more here.
Climate Change Adaptation in the Arab States: Best practices and lessons learned

UNDP supports countries in the four sub-regions of the Arab region (Mashreq, Maghreb, Arab Gulf and Horn of Africa) to adapt to climate change impacts and to prepare for disaster risks. Climate change adaptation projects in the region work on improving natural resource management practices, diversified incomes, policy support, and ecosystem-based adaptation approaches for enhancing agricultural productivity. ONE Resilient Team selected to work on resilient design for Semarang, Indonesia


ONE Resilient Team has been selected to work in Semarang to enhance the city’s resilience against climate and urban risks. The project is part of a larger initiative by the Netherlands Enterprise Agency which is promoting Water as Leverage Challenge. This initiative marks a turning point in resilience thinking that acknowledges the importance of integrated city design approaches to cope with climate change and urban risk. Community stormwater partnership receives national environmental award

The 2018 Roy Family Award for Environmental Partnership was awarded to the Advancing Green Infrastructure Program, a public-private partnership, which has built hundreds of bioswales across the city of New Haven (CT, USA) to reduce the pollution and flooding impacts of stormwater runoff. The role of riparian ecosystems in flood control

Riparian ecosystems are often exposed to degradation, due to deforestation and farming activities, which can result in increased risks of flooding.
