A new way to understand flood risk
A team of researchers from the World Agroforestry Centre and Wageningen University have developed a new ‘flow persistence’ metric, which could estimate rainfall, catchment health and consequently, the likelihood of flooding. The new method could make it easier to predict river flows and potential flooding, when trees are put back into large-scale, deforested landscapes, contributing to ecosystem restoration.
