India: World Bank approves $250 million for Andhra Pradesh disaster recovery project
The World Bank approved a US $250 million credit for the Andhra Pradesh Disaster Recovery Project in India. The project will help reconstruct the severely damaged zoological park at Visakhapatnam and ecological park at Kambalakonda. It will assist in restoring the lost shelterbelts, windbreaks and mangroves along the coast and support livelihoods opportunities of poor vulnerable coastal families by building nurseries that would supply saplings for farm forestry. Vanuatu: New project to build long-term resilience to climate change
A project to support recovery from tropical cyclone Pam and build long-term resilience of communities to climate change was launched in Port Vila, Vanuatu, by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), with financial support from the Least Developed Country Fund (LDCF) of the Global Environment Fund. This five-year project will aim at better management of forests, water, and agriculture including coastal re-vegetation and rehabilitation to strengthen resilience to climate change. Read more
