Six-Year Ecosystem-based Adaptation Project Launched in Gambia
The Ministry of Environment, Climate Change and Natural Resources of Gambia launched a six-year Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) project at the Kairaba Beach Hotel in Kololi, funded by the Green Climate Fund, to build the climate-resilience of rural Gambian communities and facilitate the development of a sustainable natural resource-based economy by implementing large-scale EbA within and adjacent to agricultural lands, community-managed forest reserves and wildlife conservation. Rising sea-levels: How to stop a city from sinking

The World Bank estimates that climate change will hit East Africa hard, forcing more than 10 million people to flee their homes by 2050 due to rising sea-level and flooding. UN Environment, in collaboration with the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) began construction of seawalls along Tanzania’s coast to protect shorelines, and restore vast areas of mangrove and coral habitats to act as natural barriers against wave surges. FAO is working for climate change adaptation in wetland areas of Laos
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) is working on climate adaptation in one of the world’s major wetlands in Laos within the Mekong River system. The project will use an Ecosystem-based Adaptation approach, enhancing the ability of the wetlands to buffer local people livelihoods against climate change impacts, through a combination of improved planning and governance conditions. Workshop
FAO helping fisheries industry improve disaster management in workshop at the United Nations House in Barbados from 4 to 6 July 2018

The FAO is hosting a workshop this week to help fisheries in Caribbean Small Island Developing States improve their adaptation to climate change and disaster risk resilience. The sessions are designed to demonstrate how an Ecosystem-based Approach to Fisheries, Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Management can be practically incorporated into different types of National Fisheries Management Plans.
