The PEDRR Secretariat is recruiting enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals who are interested to gain hands-on experience in Eco-DRR and communications. Hosted at the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Geneva, Switzerland, 3-4 month internships are available from December 2015 - December 2016. Consultative workshop on landslide inventories, risk assessments and mitigation

In collaboration with UNEP, UNDP, WWF, IUCN and ICIMOD, a consultative workshop on Landslide Inventories, Risk Assessments and Mitigation was held from 28 – 29 September, 2015 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The workshop aimed to establish a common platform for data sharing and coordination on landslide inventories in Nepal. A follow-up workshop is being planned in end of November to discuss progress. 10th International Conference on Community-Based Adaptation (CBA10)
The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) and the Bangladesh Centre for Advanced Studies are jointly organizing the 10th International Conference on Community Based Adaptation (CBA10). The event will be held in Dhaka, Bangladesh, from 21 – 28 April, 2016. The theme of the Conference is ‘Enhancing urban community resilience’ and will involve field visits to CBA projects. Online Tool
Cook Islands’ online menu for resilience

With a population of 15,000 people spread across 15 islands, Cook Islands is fostering partnerships on disaster risk management through the Cook Islands Geo Portal. The online database provides information on meteorological forecasts, island profiles, hazard risk maps, and  links to other disaster risk resources. Government and other civil sectors are using these information to enhance disaster response and risk management. Find out more.

1st  EbA Learning Brief Introduction to Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA): A natured-based response to climate change

This brief brings together experiences and lessons from the Mountain Ecosystems Programme which covers three countries - Nepal, Uganda and Peru. Drawing from the UNEP-UNDP-IUCN EbA Mountain partnership, the EbA projects aimed to translate EbA concepts into practice. The brief is catered for practitioners, including local government, civil society and other actors working on climate change. Learn more.
Urban wetlands – A new model for urban resilience in Colombo

The report shares flood risk analyses undertaken by the Government of Sri Lanka, following the devastating May 2010 floods that resulted in losses approximating US$100 million in the Colombo Metro Area (CMA). The assessment revealed that an integrated urban wetland management would mitigate flooding and boost economic value in the CMA. Read more.
Case Study
Operationalisation of natural capital and ecosystem services 
Funded by the European Union, the Operationalisation of Natural Capital and Ecosystem Services (OpenNESS) project compiles case studies to examine the application of ecosystems services and natural capital concepts in management and decision-making in areas such as integrated river catchment, coastal zone and farmlands. Presently, there are 27 case studies focusing on water quality improvement, biodiversity conservation, responsible use of natural resources and addressing climate change through renewable energy. Link to case studies.
