Turning the tide in 'typhoon alley'
|
|
In 2013 typhoon Haiyan was one of the strongest storms ever recorded and caused great damage in the Philippines, located in a region referred to as “typhoon alley”. Most of the coastal communities have lost much of their natural defences against storm surges, with mangrove forests having given way to fish farms. Conservation International is leading a new project aiming to restore these forests and other natural infrastructure to help the Philippines adapt to a new climate reality. Find out more.
