PEDRR partners at the UNISDR Science and Technology Conference, 27-29 January
Held in Geneva, Switzerland, the UNISDR Science and Technology Conference aimed to articulate a Roadmap on science and technology to support
implementation of the Sendai Framework. The Science and Technology Partnership was also launched. Dr. Karen Sudmeier presented on behalf of PEDRR at the Plenary Session on Leveraging Science through Capacity Development and Research on 29 January, where she discussed the need for landscape scale, locally driven, accessible research. UNU-EHS also presented at the working session on capacity development where the role of MOOCs was taken up as a vehicle for scaling up capacity development efforts. UNU-EHS, UNESCO and UNEP were involved in organizing the plenary and working sessions. Check out more pictures in our PEDRR Facebook group. Please post your own pictures if you were there! Learning briefs on ecosystem-based adaptation
UN CC: Learn has released a series of learning briefs which draw on experiences of the Ecosystem-Based Adaptation (EbA) Mountains Programme implemented jointly by UNEP, IUCN and UNDP. The first brief introduces EbA, the second is about the multiple benefits of EbA, and the third discusses cost-benefit analyses of EbA. The final brief is about how the Mountain EbA Programme has contributed to policy changes. Read more.
