Seagrass emerges on the world conservation agenda
The World Seagrass Association (WEA)  has issued a consensus statement signed by 115 scientists, from over 115 countries, calling for urgent action on better managing, protecting and monitoring seagrass ecosystems.Read here for more information. In addition to providing critical habitats for marine life and supporting biodiversity, seagrasses also provide important protection to coastal communities, stabilizing sediments and buffering against storm surges and strong waves,as demonstrated in a study by UN Environment in Jamaica. Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction (AMCDRR)
Pragya India is calling for video messages on Eco-DRR or EbA to be featured as part of a video production, which will be shown at the AMCDRR, to be held in New Delhi, India, on 02-05 November 2016. UN Environment in partnership with Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation (ESPA) and Pragya India are organizing a special event on “Scaling-up Ecosystem-Based Disaster Risk Reduction in Development Planning and Practice in Asia”, taking place on 03 November.
