Kenya develops its first Wetlands Management Policy for enhancing disaster resilience
|
|
Busia, Kenya, is experiencing severe water shortages. The country’s wetlands are impacted by unpredictable rainfall and unsustainable farming practices, leading to dry spells and severe droughts. Local communities who depend on wetlands for their livelihoods are at risk. In February 2017, the Government of Kenya launched its first Wetlands Management Policy to protect the country’s wetlands, hoping to restore their natural buffer against floods and droughts.
