PEDRR Shoutout: The thirteenth meeting to the Convention of Biological Diversity (CBD) will take place in Cancun, Mexico, 4-17 December. PEDRR partners have prepared specific Eco-DRR material and publications to celebrate the event:
Panel Discussion on Biodiversity and Climate Change, 08 December, Venue: Asia and the Pacific Regional Group Meeting Room
The European Commission is organising a side event to promote natural solutions in the context of mainstreaming biodiversity and ecosystem-based adaptation and disaster risk reduction. For more information on EC’s environmental research agenda, please follow the link.
Panel Discussion On Ecosystem-based Adaptation investment to reduce disaster risk, 06 December, Venue: Rio Pavilion.
Ramsar, the European Commission, and the United Nations Development Programme are co-hosting a panel discussion on how EbA can reduce disaster risk and catalyze social, economic and environmental dividends. The objectives of the panel are to share on-the-ground evidence of the efficacy and cost-effectiveness of Eco-DRR work and identify partnership opportunities which bridge the biological diversity, climate change, and DRR practitioner communities.
Synthesis report on experiences with ecosystem-based approaches to climate change and to climate change adaptation and disaster risk reduction
Published by the Secretariat of the Convention for Biological Diversity (CBD) together with other stakeholders, this report provides a synthesis of global experiences to ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) and ecosystem-based DRR. It includes key findings from the CBD Technical Workshop held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in October 2015, where a range of experts and practitioners discussed national and regional efforts towards implementation of EbA and Eco-DRR measures.
