Ramsar Convention Conference of the Parties meets in Uruguay
With a focus on Wetlands for our Future, the Ramsar Convention Contracting Parties will gather to assess the progress of the Convention and the sustainable use of wetlands to date, share knowledge and experience on technical issues, and plan their own work and the Secretariat's for the next triennium. Side Event: PEDRR at the Ramsar Convention CoP. Wetlands and disaster risk reduction: Resilient communities.
Together with the Secretariat of the Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) and PEDRR partners, this side event aims to support Member States in their deliberations of the proposed Resolution on integrating disaster risk reduction in wetlands management. Panel speakers include Government of Samoa, Government of the Philippines (author of the Resolution), IUCN Water Programme, and Wetlands International. More information.

As the international community works to finalise the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs), it is imperative to consider how legal measures developed under parallel processes and complementary treaty regimes can support implementation of the SDGs on water and wetlands. You are invited to join an International Roundtable at CoP12 of the Ramsar Convention to share knowledge and set the new agenda for synergies among international water treaties to support achievement of the ambitious SDGs on water and wetlands.
