Asia Regional Plan for the Implementation of the Sendai Framework
Following the Asian Ministerial Conference for Disaster Risk Reduction 2016 (AMCDRR), this Outcome Document aims to guide efforts in Asia towards implementation of the Sendai Framework and acceleration of the 2030 sustainable development goals (SDGs). The Asia Regional Plan identifies the mainstreaming of ecosystem-based approaches as a key strategy to build reliance and reduce regional disaster risk.. Click here.

New mangroves project for the Philippines

Super Typhoon Yolanda demonstrated mangroves and beach forests can offer significant protection to coastal communities. In light of more intense typhoons and hurricanes in the future, the Government of the Philippines have included the Mangrove and Beach Forest Development Project (MBFDP) as a key component under the National Greening Initiative. The MBFDP will lead to thousands of hectares of mangroves and coastal forests being seeded and rehabilitated across the Philippines for disaster risk reduction. Find out more.

The 5th Africa Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction will take place in Mauritius between 22-25 November. The forum will bring together African member states, intergovernmental organizations and development partners  to review the progress of the implementation of  regional and global disaster risk reduction efforts.
