Lew Young - Senior Regional Advisor
Lew was the Manager of the WWF Hong Kong Mai Po Nature Reserve from 1991 to 2008, and was actively involved in the listing of the Mai Po Inner Deep Bay Ramsar site in 1995. During this time, he was also closely involved in the establishment of Wetland Link International-Asia, a network that has been promoting greater communication and cooperation among wetland education centres across Asia. In 2008, Lew was appointed as the Senior Regional Advisor for the Asia-Oceania in the Secretariat of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands. In this role, he provides supports to 41 Parties across the region for the implementation of the Convention, including support to the Government of the Philippines in the drafting of Ramsar Resolution XII.13 Wetlands and disaster risk reduction that was adopted at the 12th Conference of Parties to the Convention held in 2015. Lew holds a MSc degree in Ecology from Aberdeen University (UK) and a Ph.D from Hong Kong University, Department of Zoology.
